Redfin 15

The ‘REDFIN 15’ Classic Sailing Dinghy is so lightweight you can launch it using one hand from a tailor made trolley.

The REDFIN 15 was designed to fill the gap between the novice trainers, which are usually fairly slow boats, and the ‘gung ho’ skiff racers that are fun, but capsize a lot. At just 4.6 metres long this boat is ideal as a two person craft. 
         

 

The REDFIN 15’s many features make it a fantastic craft to build and sail.

This craft is extremely light, with a registered minimum hull weight of 75kg. The whole boat is designed so that it is a large buoyancy tank (four divided Tanks), with a large cockpit in the middle. This boat revels in rough going and heavy winds, and this she handles admirably.

The boat is built inverted over a simple Jig and three enclosed bulkheads. A combination of the ‘Stitch and Glue’ technique combined with total encapsulation of the boat with Epoxy products ensures long life and consistent weight.

 

REDFIN 15’s built 25 years apart have been measured and found to be within 1mm of each other at maximum beam.

The REDFIN 15 is a safe, exciting, and fairly large craft to suit novices and experts alike. She really flies when the wind comes in, but because of a 100mm wide non-trip chine (or flat area) at the water line, the boat gives ample warning when over powered.
